NOTE: This position is available on 3rd shift (Sun-Thrs 11pm-7am). Training will take place on 1st shift (Mon-Fri 7am-3pm) for a period of 6-8weeks.


The Tower Operator is responsible for operating a 3 tier-vertical coating oven (Tower) to produce various sized rolls of coated fabric/ film material, while ensuring all customers’ quality needs and expectations are met and exceeded.


Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices

Perform Tower start-up, shut down and turnarounds

Read and follow process sheet, work instructions and/or procedures to coat rolled fabric/film material

Select rolls to be coated and carry/move to the pay-off, slide over shaft, inflate shaft and splice material to the leader

Use various tools to move fabric/film material to/from Tower

Follow internal environmental safety requirements for handling of coating formulation in work area

Check materials and/or coating formulation using various calibrated and non-calibrated tools

Recognize and correct processing problems

Determine through process decision making whether to continue running/operations or to stop the run

Properly complete required paperwork/forms

Input shop floor control data into computer systems (QAD/GEORGE)

Perform periodic maintenance, as required/requested on Tower, to include cleaning ovens

Maintain 5S housekeeping/organization within work area

Willing to accept and receive frequent direction and assistance from various levels of management

Complete visual inspections on material as it is processed through Tower run/operations

Recognize defects, use proper descriptions and codes

Manually adjust various machine components to correct defects as they arise

Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to Tower Lead, Production Supervisor, and/or Process Engineer when necessary

Properly complete required paperwork/forms

Cut samples for Q.C


High School Diploma or equivalent

1+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment

Accurately read a tape measure within 1/16 of an inch

Excellent attention to detail, keen vision (with or without glasses) for material inspection

Basic comprehension, reading, writing and communication skills

Basic mathematical skills
