Raytheon Senior Trade Compliance Counsel in Tewksbury, Massachusetts
Raytheon’s is seeking a Sr. Trade Counsel for the Global Trade Organization within the Office of the General Counsel. This position will be located at Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (“IDS”) Business in Tewksbury, MA and will report to the Director of Global Trade, reporting to the IDS VP General Counsel. This position is critical to ensuring global trade compliance for the IDS business unit which has many foreign subsidiaries, joint ventures and branch offices, $5.8 billion in sales in 2017 with over 50% of sales and 70% of bookings being international. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Ensuring consistent legal governance and oversight of trade compliance matters within the IDS business unit in collaboration with the Corporate Global Trade Compliance Office to include: Compliance incident reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective actions Voluntary Disclosures Global Trade Audits in the US and/or Overseas of Export/Import policies, procedures and records in compliance with US and local law Counter-intelligence investigations related to export/import regulatory and/or global trade policy compliance Providing legal export/import regulatory trade guidance and direction to the IDS Leadership across all functions and countries, including the Global Trade team, in support of the Company’s global growth, to include: Development of Export/Import policies/procedures for new international and/or existing subsidiaries, addressing both US and local law Strategic legal trade guidance on complex export/import regulations as related to critical business pursuits and/or initiatives within IDS and/or in collaboration with other Raytheon Business Units Risk Evaluations and Mitigation IDS mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures Leading a team of four – one Trade Counsel and three trade compliance professionals Required Skills & Education : 8 years relevant experience and a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited US law school Direct knowledge of U.S. import and export regulations and experience in preparing or reviewing export authorizations Direct knowledge of and experience in conducting investigations, internal audits and assessments Understanding of the relationships between DDTC, BIS, CBP, and other government agencies responsible for export control laws and regulations. Ability to interact well with multiple levels of the organization and maintain strong relationships with peers, internal clients and external customers Sound judgment and attention to detail Superior communication skills, both oral and written Ability to work collaboratively in teams with other in-house lawyers and clients on multiple projects at once Ability to think and work proactively and strategically in resolving legal issues Ability to manage a high volume workload and prioritize work appropriately Proficiency with basic computer skills, including but not limited to familiarity and comfort using common word processing and email programs Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed, sometimes on short notice Ability to obtain a US Government secret security clearance U.S. Citizenship status is required.
